Nichido Color Eyes Mascara and Eyeliner Duo: Review

Before I turn  this laptop off, I thought I should write a post first. It's been a while and I'd be lying if I told you I don't miss blogging. I don't have a laptop of my own. It broke. Me sad. I'm just borrowing my mom's for the mean time and I'm hoping to get a new one as early as I can. Hopefully soon.

In today's post, I will be talking about a local product that I have been using non-stop over the past couple of months. As pictured below, I got it on sale for only PHP168 at Watsons. It is a 2 in 1 product that saves a lot of space in my makeup bag, a mascara and eyeliner in one!

K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Eyeliner (Liquid and Pencil): Review

Hi guys! Today, I'm pretty excited with the products I'm highlighting in this post. This product isn't actually something new to me but for some reason, I forgot to take nice shots of this particular product when I first got it for myself.

You may have seen this product in so many beauty blogs and I'm sure a lot of beauty vloggers have featured it too. If you're a fan of Asian makeup,  I'm sure you've heard of this product at least once. I'm talking about this Japanese brand eyeliner called K-Palette.

Shara Shara I Wanna Pencile Gel Liner (BR01: Dark Brown): Review

I'm not sure if you remember but previously, I shared an unboxing video of a Memebox that I got and today, I'll be reviewing one of the products included in the box. For your reference, I got the Memebox Global #15.

The particular product I'm talking about is the Shara Shara I Wanna Pencile Gel Liner in Dark Brown. When I opened the box, I saw the card description of the items included in the box. It says that you get one gel liner, either in black or dark brown. Honestly, I was praying to get the dark brown and thankfully, I did. :)

Koji Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner: Review

Because today is a special day, I wanted to review a product that I really really like. When I found out that my brother was treating me to a trip to Japan, I swore to myself that I would get this particular product no matter what happens.

I've always seen this particular item being used by a lot of beauty gurus I'm subscribed to in youtube. It really seemed like a high performing product with so many raves and reviews. When I entered Donki in Akihabara, I was crossing my fingers in hope that Dolly Wink is available there. Thankfully, it was! The catch? There were several products that were in promotional packages. (To be honest, I'm not sure if they're promotional packages but it looked that way to me.) This very product is in one. It was packed with a mascara for the price of 1575 yen, which is a good deal. When I saw it, I immediately grabbed it.

I haven't used the mascara yet but I've been using the eyeliner for a couple of months now and so far, I've been loving it! I used this as a replacement for my lost K-Palette eyeliner (to be reviewed soon). It is, in my opinion, equally effective as the K-Palette but with the advantage of cute packaging. Oh, and did I mention this is produced by the famous model, Tsubasa Masuwaka (pictured in the set)?

If I'm not mistaken, Dolly Wink eyeliner usually come in pink packaging but since this is a part of a set, it's packaged differently. The outer cover is in red with gold writings and designs. Although pink is my favorite color, I personally like this design.

It's a pen type liquid eyeliner so you definitely have good control with the product. You can hold it the way you hold a regular pen which is advantageous when maneuvering the pen to create lines.

It also has a fine tip that helps you create defined lines, perfect for winging out your liner. It's very pigmented as one stroke delivers a very black line. It glides smoothly and I have no difficulty using this product. It doesn't smear and is not easily smudged. I'm not sure if it's waterproof but it stays put on my oily lids for the whole day.

This is my eyeliner of choice whenever I try to recreate K-Pop looks or just simply when I want some definition on my eyes. I would highly recommend this product to everyone out there. In2It Waterproof Gel Liner (Very Black): Review + Eyeliner for Beginners (Tips)

Before I go on with the formal content of this post, I would like to invite everyone to join my ongoing giveaway. One of the questions I usually encounter from friends who recently come to realize their fascination with makeup is how to line the eyes. My initial reaction? Which part? Are you talking about lining the waterline, tightlining or lining the upper lash line? What type of lining technique do you want to achieve? Do you want a droopy eye, a cat eye or just simple definition of your natural lash line? The possibilities when it comes to lining eyes in general are varied that is why it is very hard for me to come up with just a short answer.

Product Used: Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner

For one, we all have different eye shapes. Different eye shapes have different lining styles that compliment them. Two, I'm not an expert at this field. I don't really consider myself as an expert at any kind of makeup. I mainly just view myself as an enthusiast. So ultimately, I have a lot of knowledge regarding cosmetics but all the knowledge I have are things that I've just acquired over years of inquiring and researching. I've never received professional training so I guess I can say that the technique I use is that of a beginner. I say this because I want to warn you beforehand. And I want to repeat this for emphasis-- I am not a makeup expert. But then again, if you're interested to know what this novice has to say, then by all means, continue reading. :)

I can still remember the time when I first got curious with the concept of lining the eyes. I didn't know anything. I was watching tutorials on youtube and was fascinated by the different ways and different kinds of liners one may choose to apply them. Back then, I only knew of how to line my waterline. Fortunately, I was never the type of person to be afraid of getting poked by eyeliners. Hence, ever since I was a young girl, whenever my mom would do my makeup (for special occassions), I would be the one to personally line my waterline. My mom just had to show me how to do it once and I was able to follow. So for a tip, I should say that for you to successfully line your waterline, you must have a steady hand and a brave heart. Of course, a good waterproof eyeliner would prove to be helpful as well. But if you really can't stand 'pointy' things near your eyes, then don't push it. There are a lot more ways to line your eyes that would be more appropriate for you.

The next technique I was able to master was the art of lining my upper lash line. To be honest, it took me a long period of trial and error before I actually felt like I was already doing a good job. And frankly, there are still days when I feel like my eyeliner application just looks like a mess. The only tip I can give you is to continuously practice. Remember that most people do not master this technique in just a week or two. Take me for example. It took me months and months before I got the hang of lining my upper lash line. So if it didn't work out the first time, don't be discouraged. Just try again and eventually, you will find the stroke that is most comfortable and convenient for you.

Tightlining is a different technique as it requires you to touch your upper waterline which is pretty hard at first and would most probably tear you up. But thanks to TheMakeupChair, I found the easiest way to line your upper waterline! I'm not sure if it will work for you but it definitely did for me. Here's a video of me doing the technique so you can easily understand how just a simple method of closing your eyelids would turn this chore into a habit (link). 

Personally, I was able to master these techniques by using pencil eyeliners first. The shape of it is what made me choose this as a beginner tool because it's very sturdy and I feel in control. I suggest you explore different kinds of eyeliners and choose the one that you feel most comfortable with. I have friends who learned it by using an angled brush and a gel liner first, so really, it's all about your own preference.

Also, I don't jump from one kind of eyeliner to another. I don't practice them all at the same time. I first focused on pencil liners, followed by gel liners then liquid liner. When I first mastered applying eyeliner on my upper lash line with the use of kohl pencil, I found it easiest to transition to gel liner by simply lining my lash line with it first then tracing it or topping it off with gel liner afterwards. Through this, I developed my gel liner skills and was able to apply them without the kohl pencil as a mark underneath. I followed the same trend in learning how to apply the liquid liner. You can also try to make use of this technique but again, if you don't feel comfortable doing all this work, don't push it. Just stick to a technique that, you guessed it, keeps you at ease.

There is no single way of telling you how you should learn eye lining. It is for you to discover on your own. Just make sure to practice, practice, and did I say practice? You will eventually learn by repitition. Don't stress over it so much and definitely don't give up half way.

Now let me take this opportunity to share with you a product that you might be interested in. This is a good product especially for those who are most comfortable with using pencil type eyeliners. It's a gel liner packaged as pencil type! It combines the ease of use of pencil type eyeliners and the opaque and creamy formula of gel liners! The best part is it's waterproof so it's perfect to be used for lining the waterline and tightlining.

 

The product is called the In2It Waterproof Gel Liner in the shade WG01 Very Black. The first thing I noticed was the packaging. I really like the design that's printed all over the pencil. The flowers make the pencil look girly, which I like. It has a cap to cover the tip and protect it from getting chipped.

It also comes with a sharper that is very useful. I find that when I use a different sharperner for this product, there is a higher chance that the tip would just simply break off. It also has a cleaning stick at the back to remove pencil residue in between the blades (not pictured, sorry).

It claims to be waterproof and long wearing, which I can attest to. It also claims to not smudge and helps avoid panda eyes. I wouldn't necessarily say it's totally smudge proof but comparatively, this eyeliner withstands smudging, running and bleeding better than other eyeliners out there. It dries and sets after a couple of seconds. I personally don't really time it so I'm not sure if the 60 second claim is true. I feel like it dries sooner than that.

True to its shade name, this eyeliner is "very black".

It is super creamy and easy to apply. I really like this product and I got it for PHP 379.75 at Watsons in SM Makati. If you're transitioning from pencil liners to gel liners, or maybe you're just finding it hard to work with angled brush and the typical gel liner in a jar, then this might be the answer to your problems! I highly recommend it.

Nichido Mineral Kohl Pencil in Onyx: Review

Hi guys! Here's another product review that I came to know about through Say Artillero. She mentioned this particular product a couple of times in her videos and I got really curious as to how good the product really is. When my sister asked me to buy her an eyeliner (a year ago), I bought this for her. I sometimes use this when she brings my own eyeliner to school. I haven't tried Nichido eyeliners before so I'm not really sure what to expect. There were actually testers on the Nichido counters but I was so short in time back then that I just grabbed this without trying it out. To make the story short, I just trusted whatever Say had to say about the product and bought the thing. Other people call it faith, I call it being a fan. Hahaha!

 Water resistant.

 I especially like my eyeliners when they're freshly sharpened.  Some weird satisfaction, I guess. :)

So enough about how I got to know about the product and more on the product review. This particular item is a local Philippine product from Nichido and if you're living in the Philippines, you probably are familiar with the brand. But just in case you're not from here and you're planning to buy this particular product for your next trip to the Philippines, you can find Nichido counters in leading department stores and Watsons. I personally only see them in Watsons stores but I think they are also in big department stores nationwide. Don't fret, though, because Watsons is scattered all around the Philippines so I'm pretty sure you're bound to pass by one, especially if you're planning on going to the big malls out here like SM and Robinson's.
It costs about PHP138, which is pretty cheap for an eyeliner. It has a cap to protect the (actual) pencil from getting messed up in your makeup bag/storage. The pencil is just the right size, it has already lasted me more than a year, even though I've already used it a lot of times before.

 Lately, I've been failing my swatch photos. This swatch was poorly drawn. Please refer to my video below for better reference on its performance.

Tried smudging and it did, sadly.

I tried swatching it and the above photo is the only photo I have of it. It's not the best swatch, actually. It looks as though the line is bleeding and it looks too thick than the actual ones that I do when I line my eyes. But anyway, as you can see, with just one stroke, the line is pretty much black. I drew this with a light hand so you can definitely make it more intense with a heavier stroke. The liner itself is creamy that's why it glides on pretty smoothly upon application, which I like. This eyeliner is quite the perfect pencil liner for me, if only it didn't get smudged.
Yes, it is water resistant but it gets affected by my oily lids and tends to transfer from my lash line onto the middle of my eyelid. Also, it gets easily smudged especially when I accidentally rub my eyes unconsciously. I usually just use this for lining my waterline and tightlining. Other than that, I use it as a base for black eye shadow to create smokey looks.

ELF Cream Liner (Black): Review

I was shopping in Makati with some of my friends when I came across ELF's cream liner. During that time, I have heard nice reviews about ELF eyeshadows, brushes and lip glosses. I was quite familiar with the brand because of the number of tutorials online that use ELF products. However, I have not seen anyone use their cream liner before. I was curious so I asked the saleslady to swatch the liner onto my skin. She did and I continued to roam around the mall. At the end of the day, I decided to buy the product. And that, my dear readers, is the jist of how I fell in love with this.


I say:
ELF cream liners claim to be long wearing and smudge proof. True, it is long wearing. It will last you a whole day with no need for reapplication. It doesn't easily smudge but if you rub it a couple of times, the product would eventually give in. It's not totally smudge proof but I am satisfied with it because I see no reason for me to rub my eyes to the point of ruining my make-up.

You only need to use a small amount of product per application so I'm pretty sure a pot will last you long even if you are planning to use it every single day.

It also comes with a small angled brush, which makes application easy for me. The only downside is that the line it creates is not that precise. But then again, the brush was free so I didn't actually expect much of it.

The product is a bit hard to wash off but nothing that a make-up remover/ baby oil can't handle. The best thing about this is that it's cheap! I think I just bought it in Watsons for like PHP200+. I'm sure other online shops offer this for less so maybe you can do a research on that.

The only thing I don't like is that some of the product smears onto my crease area during warm weather. This could be because I tend to get oil build up during this time.

Below is a picture of my right eye with ELF cream liner. I used the brush that comes with the pot of liner.

Over all, this product is WORTH IT.

Pros:
- cheap
- available in the Philippines
- long wearing
- does not easily smudge
- easy application
- small pot will definitely last long

Cons:
- brush is not that precise
- smears during warm weather
