Loreal Casting Creme Gloss (Shade454/ Brownie): Review

So yeah, I know I've told you I already got my hair cut but I'm not sure if I told you I've colored my hair with Loreal Casting Creme Gloss in Shade 645, Amber/ 454, Brownie. It's my third time coloring my hair with Loreal Casting Creme Gloss. The first time was with the shade 415, Iced Chestnut and the second time was with Amber/ Brownie. You can tell I was happy with the Amber/ Brownie shade that's why I colored my hair with the same shade during the third time.

One box contains an instruction sheet, creme developer, colorant and a conditioner. The instruction is pretty simple. Test for allergies. With dry unwashed hair, apply the product. How? Section your hair, apply and massage.

You might be confused as to why I placed Amber/ Brownie as the shade I'm sporting right now. As you can see, my actual product says Shade #645 Amber (see first picture above). But try searching it online or better yet, go directly at loreal-paris.co.uk and view the whole collection. The Amber there looks nothing like the one I got but looks exactly the same as Shade #454, Brownie. Now I'm not sure what the reason behind is for this error. My hair right now looks nothing like the Amber shade in their web. It's closer (although not exactly the same) to the Brownie shade they have. Thus, I have concluded that I've colored my hair with Loreal Casting Creme Gloss Shade #454, Brownie. I got mine from the mall (Landmark Makati). I bought it twice and I got the same product (Brownie with the label Amber). Good thing I did not base my selection from the color name but from the swatch/ sample they had.

The following pictures were taken late in the afternoon around 4:30 PM. As the natural light was insufficient, I opened my bedroom light. Here's how it looks like on me:

I'm gonna be reviewing the product and will head on to the pros and cons directly.

Pros:
- did not cause allergies
- color looks natural
- hair feels soft and shiny afterwards
- has NO ammonia
- staying power is long (mine did not wash off) even though people say it's semi-permanent and washes off after 28 rinses
- available locally

Cons:
- box says Amber but it's actually Brownie once you search online
- smell stays on for a few days
- few color selection available here in the Philippines

Overall, I would say that the product is WORTH IT.

with love, Anna Luisa

Don't the instuctions say to apply to WET hair???

  2. @Anon: thanks for clarifying. no it doesn't say wet. it says dry, unwashed hair. it should be dry and unwashed so as not to dilute the color and for the hair's natural oil to prevent our scalp from being over sensitive. this will, then, prevent unwanted skin irritations. :)

  3. But just as an additional information, I have also read that it is also okay to color the hair damp (shampoo and condition first, and definitely NOT dripping wet) as it will make the application a lot smoother.

I'm not sure which one to believe but the first time I colored my hair, it was damp and it worked. The second time, I color my dry hair and it still did work.

Oone thing is for sure though... The instruction in the box says dry, unwashed hair. But then again, it could be a marketing strategy so as for people to use more product as application would not be as smooth). In the end, it will be your call as to what you would do. Haha! Hope this helped. xp

  5. I haven't had treatments like those so I'm not really sure. I'm sorry I cannot help you in this area. Maybe you should ask an expert. I don't want you to ruin your newly treated hair...
